Sun never sets for Jack Johnson

This was supposed to be Jack Johnsons somber and serious tour. Judging from the overwhelmingly sunny vibes saturating the Comcast Center Wednesday night, it seems the surfer turned filmmaker sour multiplatinum-selling singer has a different interpretation of sober than near folks.

The Hawaii-reared songwriter came to Mansfield in support of this years Sleep Through the Static, a record touted as heavier and more serious than past efforts. But concertgoers expecting a morose set from Johnson havent been paying a good deal attention to the happy-go-lucky singers vocation. Beginning with the smart, reggae-tinted bounce of Hope, Johnson squelched any fears

of a seismic shift in tone. That eternally sunny disposition doesnt ever so seem to be in doubt.

It is impossible not to be impressed with Johnsons shockingly consistent effectual, as hes mastered the pleasant-yet-harmless acoustic groove. But after a barrage of tunes, an almost debilitating sameness pervaded his plant. Luckily, keyboardist Zach Gills nimble fingers provided a foil to Johnson, with songs such as Do You Remember receiving a jolt of barrelhouse pianissimo to break up the tyranny of Johnsons sweet-smelling Prozac baritone voice and acoustic strum.

The new records thin tonal shift did back its head occasionally, as on the acidic ballad Sleep Through the Static with its line who needs please, when weve got guns. On the following tune, the midtempo stomp Go On, there was even a guest appearance of some slightly unresolved electric guitar.

The crowd, a fairly homogeneous group of high school and college kids (mixed in with a goodish dose of parents with children wHO most likely became fans after Johnsons Curious George soundtrack) seemed unfazed by the little detour into darkness. Of course, it didnt last long. By the time the unfairly infectious vallecula ofBubble Toes descended upon the audience, the wickedness had receded.

A midset calm down, including a sloppy and awkward cover of Cat Stevens Where Do the Children Play?, did threaten to stamp out the positive vibrations, but order was soon restored with the angelic, accordion-fueled jangling rag of Banana Pancakes.

Johnson flew solo for much of the encore go under, which included crowd favorites Rodeo Clowns and Better Together. It became obvious by the end that, while he may stray toward the dark side occasionally, Jack Johnson just now cant help but be Jack Johnson.

Bay area bikers Rogue Wave preceded Johnson with a barrage of dynamic and heavily layered arena rock that came straight from the U2 and Coldplay crib sheet. UK songster Neil Halstead opened the night with a lovely set of quiet, attractively melancholic tunes.

Patterning his image and logotype after the Marvel Comics supervillain Dr. Doom, the military personnel behind MF (Metal Face) Doom's iron mask is actually Daniel Dumile, aka Zev Love X, a fellow member of other Big Apple hip-hoppers KMD. First featured on the tertiary Bass single "The Gas Face," the London-born, Long Island-raised Zev made his debut with KMD a duet of years subsequently, along with his younger comrade and musical partner DJ Subroc. The 1991 record album Mr. Hood, released on Elektra Records, was portion of a short-lived course of Islamic Five Percent Nation hip-hop outings, along with efforts by groups wish Poor Righteous Teachers and KMD's labelmates Brand Nubian. However, Subroc was fatally injured in 1993 when he was smitten by a railcar, and when Zev and KMD returned the next class, it was with the even more than dangerous and miltant Bl_ck B_st_rds, an record album whose cover art only (featuring a Little Black Sambo-ish sketch lineament organism hanged) spelled the terminal of the group's contract with Elektra. With the record album in limbo, Zev went resistance for basketball team age, "recovering from his wounds" and oath revenge "against the industry that so disadvantageously misshapen him," according to his official bio, a reworking of Dr. Doom's origin. Meanwhile, Bl_ck B_st_rds was heavily bootlegged and Zev Love's fable grew, but few knew at number one that the rapper wHO began showing up at the Nuyorican Poets Café in 1998, freestyling with a stocking cover his side, was actually Zev. The inventive MC eventually ended the mystery in 1999, resurfacing in his new identity as MF Doom and devising up for lost time with a critically praised newfangled record album, Operation: Doomsday, on indie label Fondle 'Em Records. The undermentioned class saw the long-awaited official release of Bl_ck B_st_rds (finish with Sambo-style cover graphics), as well as several singles and an EP with comrade poetiser MF Grimm. In 2001, SubVerse re-released Operation: Doomsday and Bl_ck B_st_rds. A wealthiness of bootlegs, compilation appearances, mixtapes, and implemental albums (the love by DJ's Special Herbs series) surfaced over the age but no reexamination full-length until Doom introduced his change self, Viktor Vaughan, in 2003 with Vaudeville Villain. His team up with the multi-talented Madlib became Madvillain and their April 2004 release, Madvillainy drew rave reviews. Four months by and by Venomous Villain marked the refund of Viktor Vaughan with the second MF Doom album, MM… Food?, coming into court in November the same year. The erst promo-only Live From Planet X got its aboveground release in March of 2005 with Special Herbs, Vol. 9-10 following in July.

Under the auspices of Future Cut, young lions of drum'n'bass 2D and D-Cutz have launch heavy rotation in the digital underground. The twain met in the Manchester golf club conniption and straightaway had an volatile human relationship, recording and DJing together across Europe. With the incorporation of nothingness, funk, and the gumptious traditions of drum'n'bass, they have created a distinct voice inside the drum'n'bass community. Future Cut released their first self-deemed "ghetto trend" drum'n'bass transcription, 20/20, on Renegade Hardware plant TOV (Trouble on Vinyl) in April of 2000 and since then have released material with all trio factions of the TOV kin. Fairly obscure, their popularity in the underground is partly due to their ability to get the best the stereotyped sameness of drum'n'bass and use driving, ill-shapen beatniks and intuitive bass-driven harmonic forms. Future Cut released the bleak and trenchant Bloodline EP on Renegade Hardware in April of 2000 and apace followed with the The Specialist/Razor's Edge on Infared in July of 2000 (which was unavailable as of 2001) and The Obsession/Tear Out Your on Metalheadz in June of 2001. Their Ghetto Style EP was released on Renegade Hardware in September of 2001.

Kristin Davis - Davis Refused To Get Naked For Sex Film

KRISTIN DAVIS had to fight to keep her clothes on while filming the SEX + THE CITY movie - because writer/director MICHAEL PATRICK KING wanted her to get naked.

The filmmaker knew he'd never get his star Sarah Jessica Parker to disrobe - because she has a no-nudity clause in her contract - so he called on Davis to get naughty, alongside Sex's regular

exhibitionist Kim Cattrall, who plays maneater Samantha.

But David was horrified at the prospect of baring all - even in a shower scene.

She says, "He (King) tried to get me to be naked in that shower scene but I feel like I can't do that stuff. I feel really panicky about that stuff."
